Honda's original alloy wheels cost between €180 and €420 each depending on the model — a kerbing scratch can quickly become a costly expense, especially as Honda alloy wheel protection can be fitted in under an hour.
In underground car parks, against high kerbs or on poorly designed roundabouts, the rim edge takes the first hit. Honda has been upgrading its alloy wheel finishes across several generations — Civic, CR-V, HR-V, Jazz, and on more recent versions of the Accord. The result: owners notice scratches within the first few months of use, on alloy wheels that often cost more than €250 each to replace. The AlloyGator profile, fitted between the tyre sidewall and the rim edge, absorbs the impact in place of the alloy.
Common rim diameters on Honda vehicles in the French market
Honda models sold in France cover a range of 15 to 19 inches depending on the trim level and model year. Here are the most common diameters:
| Honda Model | Common rim size(s) | Original wheel finish |
|---|---|---|
| Civic (2017–2025) | 16, 17, 18 in | Polished alloy / anthracite grey |
| CR-V (gen. 5–6) | 17, 18 in | Two-tone alloy / gloss black |
| HR-V (2022–2025) | 17, 18 in | Polished alloy |
| Jazz (2020–2025) | 15, 16 in | Grey alloy |
| Accord / Accord Aerodeck | 16, 17 in | Polished alloy / chrome |
| City | 15, 16 in | Standard grey alloy |
AlloyGator is available in 13 to 22 inches: all these configurations are covered. The dedicated Honda configurator allows you to select the exact diameter and visualise the available colours before ordering.
Most exposed models: Accord, Accord Aerodeck and City
The Accord and its Aerodeck variant are saloons whose 16 or 17-inch polished alloy wheels feature a thin, protruding rim edge: the slightest kerb scrape leaves a mark visible to the naked eye. The City, frequently used in dense urban environments, combines high mileage with frequent manoeuvring in tight spaces — two conditions that maximise the risk of lateral contact.
On two-tone or gloss black finishes (CR-V, Civic Sport), even the slightest scuff contrasts sharply with the dark surface: the cost of restoration by a specialist bodyshop ranges from €60 to €120 per wheel, repeated with every incident. A set of four AlloyGator alloy wheel protectors therefore represents a one-off expense lower than the cost of two repairs.

FAQ
Is AlloyGator compatible with the two-tone alloy wheels of the Honda CR-V?
Yes. The profile is fitted to the outer edge of the wheel rim, regardless of the surface finish. It does not cover the front face of the alloy wheel and does not interfere with the two-tone appearance. The colour of the profile can be chosen to blend with the dark shade of the wheels or, conversely, to create a visible contrast.
Does the alloy wheel protector alter tyre behaviour or the original wheel setup?
No. AlloyGator is TÜV approved and affects neither the wheel balance (less than 2 g per wheel) nor the rolling profile. The original Honda wheel setup is preserved exactly as standard. No adjustment to tyre pressure is required after fitting.
What happens if I sell my Honda or return a vehicle at the end of a PCP/lease agreement?
The profile can be removed without leaving any mark on the alloy wheel. In the event of a lease return or resale, it is removed during a visit to the network or the dealership. The alloy wheel returns to its original condition, provided no major impact has occurred on the unprotected areas (front face, rim flange). This is one of the most common use cases: covering the duration of the contract to avoid return penalties. For other makes with this use case, the pages BMW alloy wheel protection and Audi alloy wheel protection detail similar situations.
