Fitting in 11 steps
Allow 2 to 3 hours for all 4 wheels the first time (easier with two people).
Check compatibility
Use the gauge included in the set to confirm your vehicle is compatible. Identify the wheel size on the tyre sidewall (R16 = 16 inches).
Raise and deflate
Raise the vehicle until the wheel is completely clear of the ground. Fully deflate the tyre. Insert the serrated stainless steel clips into the AlloyGator up to the correct size (locking into the slot).
Lubricate and prime
Spray and wipe the rim and tyre with mild soapy water. Starting at the valve, insert the end of the AlloyGator with the hole (tab). Tap firmly with the mallet.
Anti-clockwise around the rim
Work in an anti-clockwise direction. Tap the top firmly with the mallet, striking towards the centre of the rim. Continue until the ends overlap at the valve.
Cut and bond
Pull the overlapping end, mark at the first tooth of the tab, cut with the pliers. Check that the ends fit together. Apply a small amount of adhesive between the teeth, then tap at a right angle.
First inflation to 1 bar
Place the AlloyGator around the wheel all the way round, working away from the centre. Apply equal pressure (avoid striking one side harder than the other). Inflate to approximately 1 bar and repeat the circuit.
Final inflation
Re-inflate the tyre in accordance with the vehicle handbook. Seat the AlloyGator in its final position, working away from the centre of the rim. An acceptable gap is slight but must be < 1 mm.
Check the rear profile
Check that there is no gap at the rear between the AlloyGator and the tyre. If in doubt, please contact our support team.
Joint cover
Apply 4 to 6 dots of adhesive to the underside of the joint cover. Push the peg into the hole in the AlloyGator. Hold in place for 20 seconds.
Lower and repeat
Lower the wheel to the ground. Remove the jack. Repeat steps 2 to 9 until all 4 rims are protected.
Final check
Check the tyre pressure one hour after fitting (zero air loss). Recheck at regular intervals in accordance with the vehicle handbook.
You're protected!
Drive with confidence — your alloy wheels and tyres are now protected against kerb damage and potholes.
